Outline for Speech The Demise of Major League Baseball: Steroids 7/6/2009 I.Introduction A.Think of the best baseball players of the past decade. Names like Cy Young winner Roger Clemmons, Home Run Leader Barry Bonds, NY Yankees 3 rd baseman and MVP Alex Rodriguez, and World Series winner Manny Ramirez. Do you know what all of these players have in common? They have all been linked to steroid use. B.The reason I am talking to you today is I believe that the use of performance enhancing drugs are ruining not only the game of baseball , but putting players health at risk and wrongly influencing our young athletes. C.I will be discussing 3 main points… a) How steroid use has tainted the game of baseball forever b) The short and long term effects of steroid use c) How MLB players using steroids has effected young athletes II.First Main Point : The use of steroid has tainted the game of baseball forever A.Many players, like the ones before mentioned, were considers “Hall of Fame” players and they have all been linked to steroid use
