Both animals and humans tend to actively seek companionship and relationships. Life is much richerand interesting because of the relationships we share with other people. As vulnerable as life may bebecause of these relationships of the companionships we seek, the time served in loneliness orsolitude is also necessary as it gives us a chance to contemplate and reflect on our life in our ownspace. Therefore, it is important for people to understand the value of social isolation andengagements. Social Isolation is the distancing of an individual psychologically or physically from anyform of engagement with people or building any form of relationship. Therefore, this primarily refersto the loss of personal space in social groups and this may be voluntary or involuntary. For the peoplewho choose isolation because they want their own time do it in a voluntary manner without beingforced or coerced by anybody for the purpose of enhancing their human psych. On the other hand, involuntary isolation occurs when one is forced to isolation because of medical conditions thatnecessitate the use of isolation to minimize contact and engagement with other people. This is oftennegatively viewed by most people as the outcomes lead dissolution of social exchanges. But it isnecessary for people with cognitive deficits who may not understand the reason for isolation but thecaregivers and guardians understand perfectly well that isolation will help them develop and learnbasic aspects of engagement.Isolation normally occurs in four different phases. The outermost phase is the isolation from thecommunity where one is isolated from the social construct. The second phase is organizationalisolation which includes isolation from churches, schools and all other institutions in the society. Thethird phase is isolation from confidents like friends and family. Finally, the last phase is isolation fromthe person who has the ability to apprehend and interpret relationships and engagements. In thehealthcare sector, social isolation is primarily focused on clinical dyad and therefore the examinationof the isolation concepts tends to be limited to the levels of family and friends and person. Extensionto the community and organizations is done on individual persons. At this level, there are four ofclinical patterns that determine the level of isolation. The first groups is those of persons that havebeen in social groups throughout their lifetime. The second group is those of people who have beento isolation as adults but is active in old age. The third group is those people who were recentlyisolated and the fourth group is those people who are still in isolationSocial isolation increases awareness of how important is human association with others is to ourlives. The engagements can be in many forms among them caring for each other or even anger.
