A mixture of 1.374 g of H2 and 70.31 g of Br2 is heated in a 2.00-L flask at 700 K. These substances react as follows: H2(g) + Br2(g) 2 HBr(g) At equilibrium, the flask is found to contain 0.566 g of H2. (a) Calculate the equilibrium concentrations of H2, Br2 and HBr. (b) Calculate Kc. 3. (a) Using the data provided, calculate ∆ G° for the following reaction at 298 K and determine if the reaction is spontaneous. 2 POCl3(g) → 2 PCl3(g) + O2(g) (b) ∆ H° = 572 kJ/mol; ∆ S° = 179 J/mol-K If the reaction is not spontaneous under standard conditions at 298 K, at what temperature would the reaction become spontaneous? Using the data given, calculate the equilibrium constant K for the following reaction at 298 K: C2H5OH(g) C2H4(g) + H2O(g) 4. ∆ G°f [C2H5OH(g)] = –168.5 kJ/mol ; ∆ G°f [C2H4(g)] = 68.11 kJ/mol ; ∆ G°f [H2O(g)] = –228.57 kJ/mol . 5.
