N Mg T Force and motion Statement of the problem: In the experiment, we used a level surface which the car is standing on the surface and is connected to a string. The other end of the string passes over a pulley and from its other end hangs a block. The car is released. After the block hits the ground, the string no longer exerts a force on the car and it continues along the track. The problem was to determine how the launch velocity of the car depends on the distance a block connected to the object falls. We made 2 movies with the video equipment provided, once for the block hanging some height above the ground, and one with a smaller height above the ground. These movies were analyzed with LabVIEW to study the dependence of the initial velocity on the acceleration. Prediction Our group predicted that the final velocity of the car in the first experiment will be larger than the velocity in the second experiment. We have observed that the velocity of the car depends on the velocity of the mass hanging to the rope connected to the car. As long as the mass is not on
