US homework assignment April 29, 2010 1. The New Politics is referring to the conservative revolution, where conservatism was gaining  popularity across the nation as taxpayers sough to control where their money was spent, and traditional  family values were looked into for strength, and Christian fundamentalists became more influential. It had a  huge appeal because it promised profitability for those who worked hard and showed initiative in the  economic arena. Ronald Reagan, a conservative president started the “Reagan Revolution” that ended the  New Deal. He lowered taxes, reduced the government and introduced the “trickle down” concept of offering  tax cuts and encouraging investments and private spending. Also, he cut social programs and deregulated  the government, and this was all part of the New Politics ideal. However, the consequences were that by  mid-1980s, many industries and organizations were failing and a lot of money was wasted in their  bankruptcies. Taxpayers now had to pay for the failure of the government to regulate savings and loans.  2. The Reagan Revolution has been known as the end of the New Deal policies because he  ushered a new era of conservative policy making rather than progressive policy making that was epitomized
