Take Home Unit 4 1. C. The statement that the world lacked the knowledge of the goals of Nazi Germany is false. Third Reich was very apparent, and the United States were aware of the fact that they were not only initiating war and yearning to conquer much of Europe to show their power, but also slaughtering Jews. Thus, the Third Reich is not a possible reason for US isolationism. However, other factors such as A, B, D, and E are. A is because businessmen who encouraged the War for industrial gains profited from War, and another one would surely have the same outcomes for them. B is because Washington said to not get entangled into foreign affairs, thus implying isolationism. D is because the American population was sick of war, and overall disinterested in European affairs because of the First World War. E is because in the 1930’s America was reaching the climax of a depression, and they were already sick of the European affairs, that they did not wish to have any attachments to another war, thus isolationism. a. Charles Lindberg is known for supporting isolationism through the organization: America First. America First believed that the United States should keep out of foreign (England)’s business and concentrate on the United States, thus the name “America First.” A – Patriotic order of the sons of America is basically a union of super patriotic people who embrace and appreciate the nation of the United States under god. B – the German American bund, originated as the nazi salute inside of the US. They promoted Nazi Germany – ism throughout the United States, sort of like a fraternity. D – The silver shirts were a group of people an organization that a was completely faithful towards the United States. E – The Isolation Now was also a group that promoted isolation but not with as much focus on the well being of America as America First. A B D E are wrong because they don’t include Charles Lindberg. a. Works Cited: Nash, Gary B., and Julie Roy Jeffrey. The American People Creating a Nation and a Society b.
