UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI - COLUMBIA DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL AND AEROSPACE ENGINEERING MAE 3800 Instrumentation and Measurements Laboratory Spring 2010 Syllabus MAE 3800 is a three credit hour course. It contains both the lecture part and the laboratory part. The two main objectives are: (1) measurement fundamentals and (2) hands-on experiences with common laboratory instruments. Classes Lectures : Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:00-9:15am in E1419 Lafferre Hall. Attendance is required. Labs : Sections meet for one and half hour sessions in E1413 Lafferre Hall. Assignment to sections will be discussed on the first day of class. Lab attendance is absolutely mandatory. Course grading Lab reports 40% Three exams 45% Homework 10% Three Quizzes 5% Exams : The exams are closed book but you are allowed to bring one sheet of formulas and a calculator. The majority of the exam problems are similar to the homework exercises. The rest are tied to experimental facts and techniques that are developed in the laboratory. Exam Dates are: Thurs, Feb. 25, 8:00-9:15am, Thurs, April 8, 8:00-9:15am, and Monday, May 10, 10:30-12:30am. Laboratory guidelines
