Strains of 1640 and -485 µ-strain are measured in the axial and transverse directions, respectively. Assuming elastic conditions, determine the values of Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio for the material. Problem 2 (10 points) (Problem 12.11 from the textbook) Two identical strain gages are mounted on a constant- moment beam as shown in the figure. They are connected into a Wheatstone bridge as shown. With no load on the beam the bridge is nulled with all arms having equal resistances. When the loads are applied, a bridge output of 650 µ V is measured.
