Gay-Lussac Biography Born in Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat Received home schooling during his youth Attended l’École Polytechnique in 1797 and l’École des Ponts et Chaussées in 1800 Became a professor of both chemistry and physics Was a member of the chamber or deputies and chamber of peers, representing Haut-Vienne (region where he was born) Known mainly for his two gas laws Explanation of first law This law was discovered was in 1802 (this is the first of two laws he established)
