Gay-Lussac Biography • Born in Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat • Received home schooling during his youth • Attended l’École Polytechnique in 1797 and l’École des Ponts et Chaussées in 1800 • Became a professor of both chemistry and physics • Was a member of the chamber or deputies and chamber of peers, representing Haut-Vienne (region where he was born) • Known mainly for his two gas laws Explanation of first law • This law was discovered was in 1802 (this is the first of two laws he established)
