Vietnam War vs. Iraq War The Vietnam War differs tremendously from the Iraq war. All together the reason for war, US support, the cost of war, and the number of deaths show how these two wars should not be compared. Starting with the war in Vietnam; it was a war to prevent communism from taking over Asia in fear of a domino affect of the spread of communism. Ho Chi Minh, was the national leader of Vietnam, had an agreement to split the country into North and South, which had eventually led to a puppet government in the South which fed off of America. America had declared war in 1964, but then found themselves stuck in one the most tactical and difficult wars ever. The Vietnamese were impossible to fight because they were so determined to win. America was not going to give up, so a draft had to be set in place. 2 and a half million soldiers were sent over to Vietnam unwillingly and we kept losing men everyday. During the Vietnam War money was being constantly spent on weapons and artillery. Those weapons compared to todays
