STAT 102A - HOMEWORK 1 JAN DE LEEUW Suppose we have a vector of numbers x . (1) Give R code to compute the moments around zero of order one to four. (2) Give R code to compute the moments around the mean of order one to four. (3) Give R code to compute the skewness and kurtosis. Preferred format is three R functions that take the vector x as an argument. Skewness is defined (in terms of moments around the mean) as γ 1 = μ 3 ( μ 2 ) 3 / 2 , while kurtosis is γ 2 = μ 4 μ 2 2 - 3 . Use built-in R functions such as rnorm(), rcauchy(), rlaplace() and rchisq() to generate random vectors (say of length 1000) to try out
