ENGR 210 Lab 4 In this lab you will become familiar with potentiometers and the Wheatstone bridge. A potentiometer is a resistor with an additional moveable connection. The moveable connection is called the wiper. The resistance from the wiper to the other two terminals depends on the position of the wiper. Lab Exercise Ex. 1 Select a 2k potentiometer from the parts bins. Measure and record the resistance from the wiper (the center pin) to the other two terminals for the approximate locations: full counter clockwise, ¼ turn, ½ turn, ¾ turn, full clockwise. Ex. 2 Construct the circuit of Fig. 1 and measure the voltage between A and B for the approximate locations: full counter clockwise, ¼ turn, ½ turn, ¾ turn, full clockwise. Figure 1.
