For example: the Southeastern Conference (SEC) for athletics consists of schools in Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky For our purposes: North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabaman, Mississippi, and Florida This SE Area contains parts of 3 realms: Appalachian Highlands, Gulf-Atlantic Coastal Plain, and Interior Plains Appalachian Highlands: only 4 of this realms 5 regions are in the SE; Appalachian Plateau, , Blue Ridge , Piedmont Gulf-Atlantic Coastal Plain Physiography of Georgia Portions of 2 physiographic realms make up Georgia: Appalachian Highlands & Gulf-Atlantic Coastal Plain --- Appal. High .: all 4 of the regions found in the SE are also found in Georgia 1) Appalachian Plateau : known as the Cumberland Plateau in this area
