Unformatted text preview: UC Berkeley, EECS Department B. E. Boser EECS 40 HW8: Capacitors UID: Starting with this assignment the grading is more lenient. You will get a full score (100) for at least 80 % of all problems solved correctly. Reload after the due date displays the correct numerical result for all problems. The solutions to many problems are also posted on bspace (resources tab). 1. A mF capacitor is used to power a model airplane. Initially the capacitor is charged to V o = V. Calculate the fraction r of the initial energy remaining on the capacitor after V o has decreased to 75 % of its initial value. r = 1 pt. 2. A parallel plate capacitor is used to measure the fluid level in a tank. It consists of two plates mounted vertically in the fluid tank and separated by a gap g = mm. The width and height of the plates are W = mm and H = 220 mm, respectively. The relative permittivity of the fluid is e r = ( e r = 1 without fluid). Calculate the capacitance for the following conditions: Tank empty 1 pt....
