SELF ASSESSMENT CONSULTING 2 consulting skills. This assignment regarding self-assignment is crucial to me because it will assist me in finding conditions that need immediate improvement and abilities in which need polishing. What is consulting? There are two techniques to define consulting. The first method is the excellent practical look of consulting, which explains that the consultant assists the client on material, procedure where is not directly involved in the work but helping the people who seek help (Kubr, 2002). The second method focuses on unique expert service and pays particular attention to essential attributes that are mandatory for valid contributions. Consulting is a counseling facility to companies who need assistance with detecting management troubles, examine such difficulties and provide optimal answers and suggest proposals and also assist in the execution of resolutions (Kubr, 2002). These attributes of consulting are not attaining with reading books. Only even this is the primary source for consultants to gain knowledge. Other sources of knowledge are coworkers and expertise in the consulting field. The real cause of knowledge for the consultant is clients whom they will be working on to solve problems. Overall consulting is a free expert service helping executives and firms to attain managerial purpose and aims by addressing internal issues and capturing fresh perspectives upgrading learning and executing alterations (Kubr, 2002). Qualities of a consultant From the research, I found nine significant traits of a consultant which are as follows:
SELF ASSESSMENT CONSULTING 3 Intellectual ability (Critical and problem solving) : A consultant must have the skill to study rapidly. He/she also must gather skills to perceive collect and critically analyze evidence. The consultant must have unbiased, logical, and rational thinking, also skill to integrate and give an overall conclusion combined with Ingenious and new philosophy (Kubr, 2002). Skill to comprehend (emotional Intelligence) : In this skill, a consultant must have regards and patience for his colleagues and must have capability to foresee and evaluate person behavior. The consultant must be a trustworthy and humble person and must be generous and contain proper etiquette (Kubr, 2002). Ability to communicate (communication skill) : In this skill, the consultant needs to have skills to listen carefully, skillful in verbal and written reports. He/she must have the capability to share the information, educate and prepare people, and the ability to encourage people (Kubr, 2002).
