History of Cloud Computing Before we look deeper on how the cloud computing design and operate, we need to know the history of that. The term “cloud computing” was not known in half century ago, the underlying concept of cloud computing exist in about 1960. John McCarthy, an American computer scientist wrote that “computation may someday be organized as a public utility.” The actual term “cloud” is come from the term “telephony”. That is the telecommunications companies started to offer the VPN services (Virtual Private Network), which is the point-to-point data circuits, and it is dedicated. These services provide a similar quality with a very lower cost. In a lecture of 1997, “cloud computing” was first use to the students. There are some companies start to apply cloud computing in their business. Amazon started to develop the Amazon Web Service in 2006. Google, IBM and some universities also started to do the research project on cloud computing in 2007. In March 2010, Microsoft's CEO stated that "For the cloud, we're all in" and their product will involve cloud computing. History of Service Oriented Architecture Besides the Cloud Computing, we are also going to discuss the SOA (Service Oriented Architecture), and it is better that we know the history first. Similar to Cloud Computing, there is not an exact term of SOA in the past. In 1994, Pasik, an analyst at Gartnet, which is a information technology research and advisory company, first state the term SOA to a class on middleware. SOA was created because there is a confusion in the meaning “client and server”. A simple explanation is “client and server” normally referred to hardware, and SOA is referred to software. In 1996, Gartner published the first report of SOA to the public. In 2000, Web Services created the real momentum for SOA. And SOA helps the web services works successfully. In 2005, the news that SOA is the key concept for future software was presented. And in 2008, about 80 percent of the development projects apply SOA to be the foundation.

Cloud Computing 1. Introduction to Cloud Computing Cloud computing refers to applications and services offered over the Internet. These services are offered from data centers all over the world, which collectively are referred to as the "cloud." The idea of the "cloud" simplifies the many network connections and computer systems involved in online services. [1] It actually is a distributed system that provide easily accessed on demand services from the internet. The provider (or the server) itself gets resources (including applications, software, data, processing power and so on) from devices and databases worldwide through the internet. In order to achieve “cloud”, this distributed system has a lot of performance
