Hur, Minchi English 28, Section #4944 January 9, 2011 Ms. Young-Singleton Communication There are many factors that lead to a divorce between married couples. Other than constant quarrels and the unhappy marriage lifestyle, the major factor behind divorce is the lack of communication and reaching conclusions between both parties. Men and women have always been different since their birth; this is not the fact that they are different in gender but the method in which they speak and handle conversations. Their methods and style of communication is the reason why couples have a difficult time in relationships. According to the articles, “His Talk Her Talk” by Joyce Maynard and Mark A. Sherman and Adelaide Haas’ “Man to Man, Women to Women” analyses the differences found within the conversations between a man and woman and makes furtive claims towards the couple’s daily lives and also the toward the same and opposite sex. Both authors of the two articles express the vast differences between the conversations around one central idea: the gender difference results to different styles in speech. The two different perspectives highlighted in both articles help us determine which will be more beneficial in marriage and relationships, in general. Joyce Maynard article, “Men and Women” asserts that the different styles in speech between men and women lead to problematic issues in marriage. Maynard
