ME 323 AU 08 November 26, 2008 Problem Set 10 Due: 12/5/2008 1. Moist air enters a device operating at steady state at 100 kPa with a dry-bulb temperature of 55°C and a wet bulb temperature of 25°C. Liquid water at 20°C is sprayed into the air stream, bringing it to 40°C, 100 kPa at the exit. Determine: a. The relative humidity at the inlet and exit b. The amount of liquid water sprayed in , in kg per kg of dry air 2. An air conditioner operating at steady state takes in moist air at 28°C, 1 bar, and 70% relative humidity with a volumetric flow rate of 50 m 3 /min. The moist air first passes over a cooling coil and some water vapor is condensed. Saturated moist air and condensate streams exit the dehumidifier unit at the same temperature. The moist air then passes through a heating unit, exiting at 24°C, 1 bar, and 40% relative humidity. Determine: a. The temperature of the moist air exiting the dehumidifier unit, in °C. b. The rate at which water is condensed, in kg/min c.

### What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.
