Stat 4714 Fall 2010 HW 10 Due Thursday November 4 th at 3pm (end of office hours) For problems where you are completing hypothesis tests, you must clearly list the hypotheses, test statistic, rejection region or p-value, decision, and conclusion. 1) We are going to use the threshold voltage data in file hw7_volt.jmp for this problem. a) Obtain the sample mean and sample variance for all the voltage observations (ignoring the variables site and wafer). b) Construct a 95% confidence interval for the variance. c) Conduct a hypothesis test to determine if the population variance is less than .001 volts. d) Conduct a hypothesis test to determine if the population mean is different than .60 volts. (You can obtain test statistic and p-value for this by hand or with JMP.) e) What sample size would we need to conduct the test in (d) at a significance level of .05 and with power = .98?
