Kirk Poucher, gtg320h ECE 3041 L03 June 22, 2006 ____________________________________________________ Recommendation Report:  P-Spice vs. Multisim ____________________________________________________ Introduction Electrical circuit analysis requires the measurement and manipulation of many different types of signals such as voltage, current, and impedance. These measurements and manipulations form the basis of many electrical tasks, and it is therefore necessary to have accurate and reliable lab equipment that is also easy to use. P-Spice and Multisim are two software packages that are designed to aid the user in circuit analysis and design. Though they are similar in many ways, the end user will notice many differences in the functionality of these two programs. The comparison between P-Spice and Multisim was based on two main criterion, total lifetime cost and ease of use. The general operation of both programs is reasonably intuitive, and they do not require any advanced computer skills above what most engineering students should have. While the over the counter cost for P-Spice is significantly less than Multisim, the total lifetime cost including learning curve and support makes the two much more comparable. Multisim’s easy user interface and support team give it a great advantage over the dated P-Spice
