Ying Li Prof. Kashani Film 100 Oct. 27, 2008 Chapter 10 American Genre Cinema 1. Genre films reflect the interests of American, those movies like action & adventure, disaster, sci-fi and etc, all draw a great attention to American people. It satisfies people’s imaginations and the expectation in the future of the world. 2. For the action & adventure film, I like Mission Impossible and 007 series. I am fascinated by the role of heroes, and their seemed difficult and impossible mission of saving the world. Others movies, such as disaster film, I like The Day After Tomorrow; Once Upon A Time In the West for the Western movie; Resident Evil for horror movies; Vertigo and many of Hitchcock’s works for suspense thrillers, and there is the one I think is a masterpiece---Unusual Suspect. The differences among those movies are that their types are different, and the expectations from audience are different as well as what they obtain from those movies. 3.
