Holly Zimmerman History Book Report 1 st hour Global Studies October 10, 2007 Diane Von Furstenberg Diane Von Furstenberg was born on December 31 st in 1947. It was said to be a miracle she was even born because her mother was so frail and sick when she gave birth to Diane. She was Jewish and had just recently gotten out of a concentration camp. When her mother was on her way to the concentration camp she made friends with a woman and upon arrival they were sorted into groups. When Diane’s mother was put into a group not with the woman she had become friends with, she ran over to join that group. A man quickly intercepted her; he hit her on the head with a bat and threw her back into her assigned group. Diane’s mother was devastated, she had never been shown so much hatred before. As it turns out the group her friend had been in was sent to the gas chambers. Diane’s mother learned that we don’t always know what’s best for us, and she would frequently tell Diane this. When Diane was young she always wanted to be older, and she hated being called a child. She never played with toys or dolls, to pass the time she often would read. She
