Aliki Dragona UWP 104A Winter 2011 PAPER FOUR: THE LONG REPORT And PROJECT CALENDAR Length: 2, 500 words (10-12 pages of body, not including front and back materials) Instructions: Professionals in the technical and business fields have to compile long reports on a number of topics, for a variety of audiences, and for different purposes. Your assignment is to put together one such report. Your report should include the following parts: TITLE PAGE TRANSMITTAL LETTER CONTENTS PAGE (if you use figures, diagrams, etc. please include a list of figures as well separate from your Contents page) EXECUTIVE SUMMARY OF YOUR REPORT (written by you) BODY *Optional : A COMPUTER-GENERATED GRAPHIC OR TABLE OF YOUR OWN DESIGN (pie chart, graph, table) REFERENCES PAGE Each student in our class will design an individualized approach to this assignment, based on a topic selected from one's major field of study for a specific audience and purpose. Once you have clearly defined these matters, you will be prepared to develop a full long report, in accordance with the dates and explanations below. Remember that you should choose a topic from your field. This topic can be something that you wish to further investigate; or it can be a topic or issue that you are already exploring in your other classes, or a project you are currently working on in a lab, or internship, or .... This assignment is open in possibilities—in conference, I will help you choose and fine-tune a topic that you really want to write about and work on for this extended period of time. You can also talk to me in office hours at any stage of your work.
