Anthropology 364: Nutrition and Evolution                              Winter 2009 Lauren Salzman W ORLD  F OOD  D AY As this new unit of Food and Culture suggests, food and what we eat is more a product of culture  and socialization than biological imperative.  It expresses who we are, what group we belong to,  what we hold dear, and what we despise.  For this assignment, think about a food that reveals  something about your culture, heritage, religion, etc.  You will be expected to explain your choice  to the class as well. Prepare enough for a sample-size serving for 27 students.  Please bring to section already cut into  pieces with a serving spoon or fork as necessary.   I will provide disposable plates, forks, and  cups.   We will have access to a single microwave to warm things up, but please plan to arrive  early if you’ll need to do this and let me know ahead of time.
