Sasha Wang SAC 352.003 Kenneth Garner Daniel Herbert 09/23/08 Stephanie Zacharek Stephanie Zacharek is a film critic at Salon.com and is not afraid to disagree with the masses considering she practically butchered The Dark Knight . Her taste in film consists of an eclectic range of genres including action, horror, musical, and animation as shown in her 2007 “Movies that Matter” article; it seems that she does not discriminate based on genre. Zacharek sometimes briefly touches upon cinematography by analyzing the director’s execution of mise-en-scene. In a bulky paragraph, she usually describes the lighting, costume and makeup, setting, and placement of characters. She determines their aesthetic appeal, cohesion with the plot, and overall effect on the viewer. However, Zacharek has yet to mention any comment whatsoever about the director’s editing.
