Educational Worksheet Week 5
A few social problems within Americas educational institutions are bullying (both
at school and on the internet), discrimination, and a serious lack of equal opportunity.
It’s getting more difficult for educators and their student to connect culturally. With the
state and federal curriculum requirements and growing class sizes the issue of students
and teachers connecting and understanding each other on a cultural level creates a lack
of opportunities. If this gap grows without mitigation, then the results will be the
perpetuation of poverty within minority racial groups. Opportunities for those in the
minority are lacking beyond basic curriculum unless they show promise far above their
counterparts. This gap creates more bullying opportunities and an unfair lack of what
seems like unbiased educational opportunities. (Davis, 2016).
On a micro level, a teacher, through no fault of their own might not be able to
understand the struggles their students face not only at school but at home and in the
public eye. The adage that you don’t know what some is going through until you walk a
