Unformatted text preview: Getting Started The first thing the Super Safe Club did in creating an effective and coherent checklist for purchasing new equipment was brainstorming. We utilized the years of experience of our five group members with the laboratories, various machines, and lab procedures on several different brainstorming sessions in order to determine what types of topics we would need to cover. We listed the different machines and procedures and found many overlapping causes for hazard concern which allowed us to make a more comprehensive idea list and determine that industry research was necessary. It was very important to us that we correctly and effectively determined what different safety categories are most pertinent in purchasing new machines. Through our research we found that there were many categories that did not apply to the types of machines or safety controls that we deal with in the Cal Poly technical labs.
