For the following transmission lines (TMLs), design each network “on paper” first using the graphical method. You will be determining the width of the center conductor to give you the impedance value required for microstrip and stripline. 2. Use LineCalc or TxLine to compare by calculating the % difference between line width and physical line length. 3. Use MWO or ADS to simulate the TML. Submit your final circuit schematic and frequency (1 – 5 GHz) response plots (|S21| in dB, |S11| in dB) for each design. Use: Center frequency, f o = 3 GHz for all designs Port impedances = 50 Ω unless specified otherwise FR4 substrate ε r = 4.2, loss tangent = 0.02 substrate thickness, h = 0.158 cm for microstrip, b = 0.32 cm for stripline conductor thickness = 12.7 µ m conductor metal = Au (use default value for rho in AWR or ADS)
