EVPP 111 Lab Syllabus Fall 2010 EVPP 111 – All Sections (201-204) - "Ecosphere: Environmental Science II" LAB SYLLABUS – Fall 2010 8/30/10 Lab Instructor The instructor for each lab section is either a graduate teaching assistant or an adjunct faculty member.  All lab sections  (201-204) are governed by this syllabus, regardless of the instructor.  All instructor mailboxes are located in DK 3043.  Each lab  section has its own page on Blackboard, located at  http://courses.gmu.edu .  Each lab instructor will provide to students on the  first day of class telephone contact information, office hours and office location, which you can record in the space provided  below.   It is the student's responsibility to know how to contact his/her lab instructor. Instructor Contact Information Mailbox Location: DK 3043 Name: Email: Phone: Office Location: Office Hours: Course Coordinator Dr. Kim Largen Office: Krug Hall (KH) Room 13 Phone: 703-993-1048 Mailbox:David King Hall (DK) Room 3043 Email: klargen@gmu.edu Course Website:  http://courses.gmu.edu   Office Hours:   MWF   8:150am – 9:00am, or by appointment Grading The entire course grade is based on performance in both lecture and lab, and will be based on a total of 1000 points.  Performance in lab accounts for 300 of the 1000 points (30%). The lab grade will be based on the weekly data sheets, weekly  write ups, lab syllabus quiz, timely submission of the lab safety form, timely acquisition of the lab manual, weekly pre-lab  quizzes, iClicker participation, completion of two independent lab packets, and one formal lab report on an assigned lab activity  topic (both a rough draft and a final draft are graded).  Explanations of each of these components can be found in the sections of  the syllabus that follow.  The table below indicates what portion of the lab grade will be determined by each of the components  of the lab.   PLEASE NOTE :  While there will be no lab exams, material/concepts from lab exercises  will be included on lecture exams.   Therefore, students are responsible for understanding the concepts presented in lab activities.      Lab Component # Points toward Lab Grade % of Lab Grade Weekly data sheets (lowest two grades dropped) 99 33% Weekly pre-lab quizzes (lowest two grades dropped) 45 15% Weekly write ups (lowest two grades dropped) 66 22% 1
