The design argument in summation says that the earth and the universe as a whole is so perfectly laid out and constructed that it must have been designed. The argument gives reason to believe that an all powerful and intelligent creator must be the mastermind of the universe since it has such order and has been designed with so much purpose. From rationalizing these claims one could assume that the universe was not created by accident but had to be the work of a supreme being…God. William Paley equated the design argument to real life scenarios through reasoning; he described a story of finding a rock and a watch on the ground and asked the question”how did this get here?”. The rock could have been there forever but the watch couldn’t have been; the watch must have had a maker because of how the inner workings came together so seamlessly. If any part of the watch was not right the entire purpose of the watch as a time keeper would fail, within a watch there are many intricate workings that need to be
