Mercantilism: in order to secure the good of the nation, the state should control the commercial activity, amount of wealth in the universe if ba- sically fixed --> must take another nation’s wealth to get ahead 2. Goal of every nation was to be economically self-sufficient a) form of economic nationalism C. Mercantilism Applied 1. Role of Colony was to supplement economy and production of goods of mother country --> anything mother country CANT produce, the colony should produce it 2. Colony can only trade with mother country a) Navigation Acts: “special/all important” goods could ONLY be traded with England (i.e. tobacco, indigo, etc). All these goods had to be shipped on English vessels and all imports to colonies must
