UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, DAVIS Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering ENG 6, Engineering Problem Solving Fall 2006 Problem Set #7 Due MONDAY, November 20 at 5:00 pm (No late submissions accepted.) For the following problems you are to create the specified script files and submit them via MyUCDavis, as described in the instructions in Problem Set #2. Your script files should contain comments so that it is easy to determine what has been defined and what has been computed. The displayed output should clearly identify the variable whose value is displayed and specify its units . Variable names should be chosen to correspond to the mathematical variables used in the problem definitions as given below. Also make sure to use the clear and clc commands at the beginning of each script and to use the clf and figure(1) commands when you are creating a plot . (If you use figure(1) before creating the plot, the Figure 1 Window will pop to the front.) At the top of each script file, include three comment lines as follows: %Engineering 6, Fall 2006, Problem 7.1 (or 7.2 or 7.3, as the case may be) %Your name and the last four digits of your student ID (e.g., John Smith, 5872) %Your discussion section number and time (e.g., Section B09, Tues. 9-10) IMPORTANT NOTE: It is okay to work together on the homework assignments, but in the end you must write up and submit your own version of the script separately from anyone else. That is, you may not copy and submit someone else’s script or portion thereof, even if you helped work on it. Problem 7.1 The arrays impurities1, impurities2, and impurities3 given below contain the weekly average impurity levels (in parts per million) of the output of three different reaction chambers over a 15 week period. Using Matlab' s relational and logical operators and the sum function (but not if statements, switch statements, or loops), write a script file named xxx7_1.m (where the x' s are your initials, as usual) to: (a) Determine and display how many weeks the impurity level of chamber 1 was below
