IR 210: International Relations: Introductory Analysis Notes 5-9-2010 Srebrenica Case o May not be on test because have not gone over Waltz – The Man, the State, and Inequality o Analytical framework o 3 images Different images of humankind Optimists and pessimists o Apply to inequality Kant – small republics led by good leaders, want cosmopolitan rights Machiavelli – good leader at home keeps the majority of people at home happy, problem is the international system Political and economic structure o Lenin – capitalism is imperialistic, most democratic system can be socialism, do not want relationship between sub-structure and super- structure, to get rid of inequality need to revolutionize o Wilson – capitalism is the best way to organize, Wilsonian Triad System level o Kant – small republics that emphasis cosmopolitan rights o Hobbes/Machiavelli – hegemony to get rid of inequality or just live with
