Astronauts must be able to withstand accelerations up to 5 g’s, or five times the acceleration
due to gravity.
Physiologists basically measure this as the total normal force exerted on the
pilot by the seat.
Determine the angular velocity of the centrifuge in revolutions per second so
that the magnitude of the total normal force on the pilot is 5 times her weight; the radius of the
centrifuge is 6 meters.
