Week One: Discussion Board Question: Cultural Relativism * Using your textbook, please define cultural relativism, using APA formatting for your citations as needed. Find an example of anthropological fieldwork from your text, LN, including PaperIdeas file, or a quality online source and explain how the anthropologists maintained cultural relativism. * What is the anthropological stance on slavery, genocide, sex trafficking, bride murders and genital mutilation? Is this OK? The text defines cultural relativism as the study of another culture from their point of view without using your own point of view (Alan, 2007). One of the fieldwork studies that I enjoyed reading was the visiting to the Hutterian Brethern. He was going to study the people and their beliefs as well as cultural behaviors and ways. An example of similar studies is that of a man named Gerard Hendrik Hofstede. Hofstede was a sociologist that studied national and organizational cultures. He believed that the groupings of national and regional cultures caused an effect on societies as well as organizations that through time would continue to stay the same (Hofstede, 2001). He traveled to different countires learning and studing the different areas in culture as well as the similarities. For an example one study might have been from Country A’s cultural beliefs on women and the way that they are
