First, she could remove Kate from her position and hire a new supervisor creating more distinct duties. Kate could focus on direct services while a supervisor manages business aspects. Secondly, she could utilize technology to manage the environment. For instance, she could use a camera with videotaping capability. She could utilize a card swipe system with her customers to create better accounting of traffic flow and the corresponding revenue that would be expected. If Rosemary felt the current behavior was unacceptable she could begin with an action plans that would predict negative consequences leading to possible termination if Kate’s behavior does not change. She could employ incentives that reinforce positive behavior with profit sharing and create a sense of ownership at a monetary level for her employees. If Rosemary decided to fire Kate then utilizing better vetting processes would assist her in future employees. Background checks, researching references, and more detailed interviewing processes would help predict insuring more honest employees in the future. Avoiding hiring friends would assist Rosemary in reducing emotional conflicts in roles related to operating a successful business. ...
