The part (b) given in the posted problems was actually the real part (c). Part (b) should have read: “Consider the following statement: There is a 95% chance that μ is between 7 . 8 and 9 . 4. Is this statement correct? Why or why not?” The answer is no, it is not correct. μ is a Fxed but unknown number. It is either between 7 . 8 and 9 . 4 or not. It can’t be between those numbers 95% of the time. c. The question here is what was posted in part (b) of the problems. “Con- sider the following statement: We can be highly conFdent that 95% of all bottles of this type of cough syrup have an alcohol content that is between 7 . 8 and 9 . 4, Is this statement correct? Why or why not?” This statement is not correct. A conFdence interval is not about our opinion or how we feel! Also, a conFdence interval for μ is an estimate
