Types of Proposals freeimages.co.uk Internal & External Are the two primary categories for proposals Are determined by the audience Will often require a variety of proposals on the same subject Internal Proposals Offer solutions to problems that the organization is aware of Offer solutions to problems that the organization did not initially recognize as problems Persuade an audience that a problem exists and requires attention Detail the extent of the problem Example Suppose an engineering firm employs several dozen engineers working on various projects and makes available to each engineer networked versions of AutoCAD, the premier design software package used by engineers, designers, architects, and other professionals. For most in the firm, AutoCAD serves all of their needs, but several engineers find that they need to integrate their designs into other publication software that does not support an AutoCAD bridge. These engineers often have to re-create designs in other drafting software in order to incorporate those designs in company documents, such as detailed proposals and reports, as well as publicity materials. Consequently, these engineers draft a proposal to their superiors, identifying why it would be beneficial to purchase other software to bridge design programs and publication programs. In writing their proposal, they are making their superiors aware of the problem while simultaneously offering solutions.
