Plan for September 2 What is science? Appearance of the sky o How does the sky change over a day, a month, and a year? o How does your position on Earth affect what you see in the sky? What is science? Science is the body of human knowledge collected and scrutinized using the scientific method . A scientific hypothesis is an educated guess that is in the process of being tested using the scientific method. A scientific theory develops one or more well-tested hypotheses to describe many phenomena and makes accurate predictions . Scientific Method Particles are important in astronomy, study how these particles behave in a variety of situations. Astronomy is largely an observational science. We look through a telescope and record information using a camera or another instrument. In some cases we are more fortunate and get to go to these places to study first hand (like mars). 1. Observe nature; perform experiments.
