CLASS FORMAT Primarily lecture and class discussion with accompanying required readings and practical exercises. There may be additional handout material. We will take a practical approach to this course and will discuss actual police scenarios that will hopefully prepare all of you for the field you are about to enter. We will also be having video presentations and possible guest speakers. ASSIGNMENTS Students are responsible for all assignments.  They are as follows : [1]

1. All assigned reading material (including handouts), appropriate study material, classroom discussion, notes, video material, attendance and participation . The later is worth 11% of your total grade (50 points). 2. There will be two (2) multiple choice/ true-false exams (mid-term and final) based on the text book material and lectures. Each exam is worth 100 points and combined are worth 44% of your total grade (200 points). 3. Each student will be required to submit a written review of the book, Walking with the Devil . This paper should summarize your thoughts on the book and will make you think of how you would handle witnessed incidents of police corruption. The review is worth 11% of your total grade (50 points). **Paper details will be  outlined later in the course** 4. ***Each student will be required to submit a capstone paper for this  course!*** The paper is comprehensive and should cover the material outlined in the course. This paper is a major project and should be approximately20-30 pages in length. This is a capstone paper for the course and is worth 33% of your total grade (150 points). **More details will be covered later in this syllabus** [2]

Grading Final   Grades 2 Exams-(multiple choice/T-F (200pts) =45% A= 90-100% Literature review - take home (50 points) =11% B= 80-89% Capstone project - take home (150pts) =33% C=70-79% Class attendance, participation (50pts) =11% D= 60-69% Total Course Points (450pts) =100%      F= 0-59% MISSED CLASSES/MAKE-UP EXAMS Unexcused absences will not be tolerated and will count against you in the total points for attendance/participation.
