Navigating the Library Homepage As you begin your research process, one good thing to review is the Information Guide  the librarians have put together for students enrolled in English 302S: Go to OR you can go directly to the GMU Library home page: Go to A good place to start here is under the broad category “Get Help” - Click on “Tutorials” -Scroll down and click on “How to Find Articles” -Click on “Article Types”      A chart will show you the characteristics of the two types of articles this  assignment                    requires you to find from: (1) a popular source (written for a “general  readership” or the                   general population, i.e. “everyone” (Washington Post, NYT, Time Magazine,  Newsweek)                   and (2) a publication written for business professionals (WSJ, Forbes,  Economist, etc.). From this page you can click on “How to find articles” (upper right-hand corner), which  take you to another page that explains the library databases – collections of “holdings”  including everything from daily newspapers, popular magazines, to academic journals.  You will then be instructed to: Return to the library home page: Under “Research Tools” (on Left): Click on “Research Databases” -A new page will open up showing a broad list of categories containing GMU’s 500  databases and their holdings.

            - A good category to begin with is “Basic Topics,” since this will suffice for our  first assignment (CLA).  Once you get into a list of databases, just look at the  descriptions of their holdings.  Some good multi-disciplinary databases include:
