This letter outlines the scope of the course field project the students will be working on with their classmates over the semester. The field project is a study of a workplace in a certain field in which students observe and analyze the workplace culture as well as the types of communication, both oral and written, which are found in the culture. Student teams perform the following tasks: 1. Spend a minimum of an hour, depending on accessibility and availability, observing the workplace environment, noting the operations of the workplace and communication tasks employees perform. 2. Observe and take field notes about the workplace culture to find patterns and anomalies in the culture.
