Shashank Gupta Professor Jones Extra Credit 12/14/09 An Evening of One-Acts: Take a Chance, Laundry and Bourbon, Lone Star The fourth Jameson show consisted of three One Act Plays: Take a Chance, Laundry and Bourbon, and Lone Star. At Jameson Theater there is a clear distinction between the audience and the performers, therefore making the physical structure of the theater a proscenium. The show started off with Take a Chance. The play’s good lighting was seen from the very beginning when light colors were used to show the sunset and the colors changed to sway the mood of the audiences accordingly. Scenic design was minimal to blankets and pullovers, but at the same time they did their job in showing the audience that the actors were on a beach. The costumes worn by actors were also apt for the beach. Minor details, like all the actors except the ghost not having shoes, made a difference. The pregnant character’s costume actually made it look like she was pregnant. The calming sound of the crashing waves definitely put all the pieces together in showing that the actors were at a beach. All the design elements complimented each other. For example, background lighting like a sunset, sounds like crashing
