Shashank Gupta Professor Falzetti Assignment: Missed Class 01/25/2010 Declarations of Sentiments and First Wave of Feminism Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions is a very strong document that sums up the sentiments of women who felt cheated of their basic rights as human beings and as citizens of the United States of America. Their principle argument is that for the history of mankind, man has established absolute tyranny over women. This argument is supported in this document with various truths. The document says that man has denied women the inalienable right of electing franchise which leaves her without representation in the legislation, he has not given her the right to voice her opinion, he has not even given her the rights that are given to the most ignorant and degraded men. It also argues that men have taken away from women basic property rights and the right to control their own body. Once a woman is married, she is civilly dead because she is not punishable for the offences made by her in the presence of her husband which also makes her an irresponsible human being. The law has given man the power to deprive women of their liberty and to punish them. Furthermore, she does not have the right to have property under her name nor does she have the right to keep the wages she has earned. In case of a
