Mons Pubis The area of the lower front  abdomen over the pubic  bone.  Covered with pubic hair. There are numerous nerve  endings in the mons, which  means that touch and  pressure to this area can be  sexually pleasurable Latin for “mountain of  Venus”

Labia Majora (outer lips) L Rounded pads of fatty tissue  extending downward from the  mons along both sides of the  vaginal opening. » Enclose and protect the other  external structures. » The outer skin is pigmented,  covered with pubic hair. » Formed from the same tissue  that forms the scrotum for  males. » Touch or pressure on the  outer lips results in the same  sensations men feel from  scrotal stimulation.

Labia Minora Hairless folds of tissue  between the labia majora and  the vaginal opening. » The labia minora come  together to form the  clitoral hood or prepuce .   They come together at the  bottom to form the  fourchette » Also contain numerous  nerve endings.

Clitoris » Sexual pleasure organ of the  female (homologous to the penis)  - only  fxn is for sexual pleasure  (not involved in reproduction). » Located above the openings to  the urethra and the vagina.  » It’s a small erectile shaft (it  becomes engorged with blood  upon stimulation) capped by an  exposed  glans,  which can be  viewed if the labia are gently  parted and the clitoral hood is  pushed back. » Varies in size from woman to  woman » Contains as many nerve endings  as the penis.
