Elevator Speech : What is it? Description The “Elevator Speech” is another name for a brief description of: Your background Your work history Your skills Your education Your work objective Purpose To give the listener a compact, precise description of why they should consider hiring you. Timing There is no real limit to this speech, however most elevators complete their journey in less than 30 seconds. Short Version: 30-45 seconds Long Version: 1-1.5 minutes
