Moreyra Professor AstoneHumanities 25027 April 2017Cultural Genius:François BoucherFrançois Boucher was a French painter born in 1703 in Paris France. His main style of painting was Rococo. He is associated with the formulation of the “Mature Rococo” style. His art was typically pastoral, portraits and landscapes. Boucher painted with oil paints and occasionally sketched. Boucher was both a painter and a designer of book illustration. One of hismost famous subjects was Madame De Pompadour which was the chief Mistress of King Louis XV. Boucher painted portraits of Madame de Pompadour in elaborate gorgeous silk dresses. His style was known as “Rose petals in milk” which signified pale skin and bright rosy cheeks. This can be seen in a number of his artworks. Boucher also favored religious artwork such as angels and mythological goddesses. Boucher is one of my favorite artists of all time. He is the reason I admire the Rococo period. His art is soft yet bright with colors. The pale skin of his subjects
