Mini-project 2 The file Shadow.xls (found in the Data Sets folder on K-State online) contains data on 20 shadow stocks. The variables included in the data set are the exchange on which the stock is traded, earnings per share and the ratio of price to earnings. Submit answers to numbers 1, 3, 5, and 7. 1. Create frequency and relative frequency distributions (by hand) for the exchange variable. 2. Use Excel to create a bar graph for the variable exchange. (a) Open file Shadow.xls. (b) In cells F4, F5, and F6 type the three different categories for the exchange variable (OTC, AMEX, NYSE). (c) In cells G4, G5, and G6 enter the corresponding frequencies you computed in part 1. (d) Highlight the six cells you entered for parts b and c. (e) Click “Insert”. (f) Click “Column”. (g) Select “Clustered Column” under “2-D Column” (this is the first option). 3. For this sample, which exchange has the fewest shadow stocks? 4. Make a histogram of earnings per share.
