EXAM I FORMAT: 40%-50% multiple choice, and 50%-60% short answer, short essay. All material assigned on the syllabus is relevant, although CH 1 in the text will have a little lower weight. The exam covers CH 1 (just a few questions) CH 4 & 10 in the text. It also covers the CH I posted on Strategy. Remember, important topics have been indicated on the documents we have used in class. SHORT ANS. SHORT ESSAY PRACTICE QUESTIONS (There may be other questions on the exam, but these should help you prepare.) 1. Why should a manager be concerned with employees’ job satisfaction? (5 points) 2. Name and define two generic Business Unit Strategies (10 points) 3. How does JP (job performance) lead to Organizational effectiveness? 4. Define Strategic Congruence (Use a diagram and briefly define each term) 10 pts. 5. Why is strategic Congruence important? 10 pts. 6. Explain how Job Complexity, Growth Need Strength, and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities combine to affect satisfaction with work itself.10 pts.
