Biol 315 Lecture 31 Review Checklist Describe the location of the  liver  and know how it projects to the anterior  body wall. What are the two named  surfaces  of the liver?  What is the  porta hepatis  and where is it located? What anatomic structures  on the liver’s  visceral surface  can be used to define the liver’s “functional”  left and right lobes ? Why are these lobes called “functional”? What  structures on the visceral surface together resemble the letter “H”? Know some of the main functions of the liver [Take heart – the liver has  hundreds of functions – you only need to know a few of them!]. What cell  type in the liver is responsible for performing these functions? How would you describe the microscopic arrangement of  hepatocytes  in the  liver? Why is this arrangement advantageous? What is a  liver lobule ? What  does it look like? Where are the liver
